The design for the theatre has progressed a lot over the last few weeks, and this week I've been working on the final look of the part of the street it will be on. Currently I'm sketching up the outline so that it can be modelled in 3D so we can start more progress on the street itself. (- Kirstianne)
Initial design, taking on research into 1940s art deco theatres. |
2nd more detailed design, playing with shape and refining some details. |
Experimentation with colour and light/shadow. |
Watercolour concept in preparation for next stage, main colour pallette holds a lot of red tones as this was going to be the colour of the scene at the time.
Next stage: working in digital. Here I added more detail and played with adding splashes of colour. |
Using A Monster in Paris architectural design as reference, I redesigned the theatre as well as the street (the street in Once Upon a Time in America was used as reference) after the Pitch to start pushing the final design of the backgrounds. I am still using details of Art Deco, but not as much.
Currently working on the design of the street for creating a 3D model. This is the first part, I now need to do a side view, and then the other parts of the street.
